TODD GORDON: Crew Chief
No. 11 America’s Incredible Pizza Company Chevrolet Monte Carlo
Date of Birth: October 20, 1969 Hometown: Camden, N.Y.
Marital Status: Married, Amy Children: Kali and Ashlyn
Todd Gordon will find himself in familiar surroundings in 2008 as he will return as the crew chief of the No. 11 America’s Incredible Pizza Company Chevrolet with veteran driver Jason Keller in the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS). Gordon holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Clemson University and has built and raced cars since college. Most notably as a senior, he built his first race car, a limited super modified, where he raced at Oswego (N.Y.) Speedway in 1993. With his career in racing solidified, his path as a builder and driver continued for the next six years. He went on to win his last race as a driver in June 1999, just one year after making a move to North Carolina in pursuit of furthering his career in motorsports.
Gordon first worked with driver Phil Parsons and the No. 10 NNS team as a fabricator in 1999. By early 2000, Gordon’s engineering skills were tabbed by Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR), where he served as an engineer with its two-car NNS operation with drivers Jason Leffler and Jeff Purvis. By 2002, Gordon had not only obtained the engineering knowledge but the experience with working at a multi-team operation. It was exactly what the management team at ppc Racing was looking for with its championship-caliber teams. In mid 2002, Gordon accepted one of the team’s engineering positions, working with drivers Jason Keller and Scott Riggs and the Nos. 57 and 10 teams. In late 2004, with three races to go in the season, Gordon was asked to lead ppc Racing’s No. 22 team as its crew chief with Keller. Fulfilling his dream, Gordon
aided the team in finishing out the season sixth in the NNS driver points standings, again securing ppc Racing’s success in the series. For the next two years, Gordon called the shots at ppc Racing working with rookie driver Michel Jourdain Jr. in 2005 and then taking over the reigns as the crew chief for Kenny Wallace at Talladega in 2006. Gordon finished out the 2006 season with Wallace and the No. 22 team went on to finish the season 11th in driver point standings.
The 2007 season brought Gordon’s career full circle as he was reunited with former driver Jason Keller and former ppc Racing employees at the newly reorganized CJM Racing. The fledgling team competed in 15 races in 2007 and posted an impressive four top-10 finishes. This season Gordon will once again be calling the shots for the No. 11 America’s Incredible Pizza Company race team. The duo of Gordon and Keller hope to be able to rekindle some of their past history and compete for their first NNS Championship since 2002.
